On the 117th kilometer of the Kyiv-Odesa road, near the village of Hostra Mohyla, an accident took place.
Law enforcement authorities preliminarily established that a 69-year-old driver of a Mercedes Vito minibus, while intoxicated, failed to yield to a Skoda Octavia vehicle that was traveling towards the capital, resulting in a collision.
As a result of the accident, the 61-year-old driver of the Skoda Octavia was hospitalized with injuries.
The police detained the driver of the Mercedes Vito and placed him in a temporary detention facility. His blood alcohol content was found to be 1.73 ppm.
Investigators, under the supervision of the Bila Tserkva District Prosecutor's Office, have initiated a pre-trial investigation into violations of traffic safety rules or vehicle operation by individuals under the influence of alcohol, causing moderate bodily harm (part 1 of article 286-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
We urge drivers not to operate vehicles while under the influence of alcohol, as it significantly impairs reaction time, driver attention, and poses a serious threat to the lives and health of all road users.
