Assault on Khreshchatyk Street Leads to Serious Injuries

An incident on Khreshchatyk Street in Kyiv resulted in a man sustaining serious injuries. The police have arrested a suspect.

Investigators have notified the perpetrator of the suspicion against him. According to the law, he faces up to eight years of imprisonment.
While patrolling Khreshchatyk Street, police discovered a man lying unconscious on the pavement in Kyiv. Officers provided first aid and called for an ambulance and a investigative team to clarify all circumstances of the event.
Doctors diagnosed the 30-year-old victim with a severe traumatic brain injury, a concussion, and a fracture of the temporal bone.
Operational staff established that a local resident, an MMA athlete, was involved in the crime. A conflict arose between the young man and the victim, during which the suspect punched the victim in the face, causing him to lose consciousness and fall to the ground.
Police arrested the assailant at the scene according to Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine and informed him of the suspicion under Part 1 of Article 121 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – intentional grievous bodily harm. The penalty for this charge can lead to imprisonment for up to eight years.
