Since the beginning of the year, police dogs in Kyiv have detected more than 50 kg of illegal drugs. Working alongside their handlers, they patrol checkpoints, subway stations, and participate in operational activities and authorized searches. This was reported by the press service of the National Police.
Throughout the year, law enforcement and their canine partners have responded to over 130 calls aimed at identifying narcotics. In total, over 50 kg of prohibited substances have been seized, including heroin, cocaine, amphetamines, Alpha-PVP, methadone, and cannabis.
"This is the result of the work of 7 dedicated dogs who serve alongside their handlers around the clock. Meet our canine team: Labradors Leo and Norma, Malinois Chase, German Shepherds Thor and Casta, as well as spaniels Ornella and Coconut," the National Police stated.
Authorities emphasize that despite the ingenuity of drug traffickers and their methods of hiding the 'goods', these four-legged detectives always manage to find their targets, whether it's hidden in household items, specially arranged hiding spots, deep within cars, or camouflaged under stones and buried in the ground.
