The police in Kyiv arrested four suspects involved in an extortion case. The criminals handcuffed a young man and threatened him with a gun, demanding $50,000 that he allegedly owed them. The victim, a 24-year-old resident of the capital, is engaged in social media promotion. It was revealed that an unknown man had contacted him earlier to discuss a potential collaboration.
During the conversation in the victim's car, two unknown individuals suddenly joined them, handcuffed him, and began to demand money. After failing to achieve their goal, the criminals fled the scene. Law enforcement, in collaboration with analysts, identified that four local residents aged between 19 and 41 were involved in the crime. The criminals meticulously planned the act: one person found the victim on social media, another created a false profile in a messenger to arrange a meeting. The other two applied physical threats to the victim.
Investigators, under the supervision of the Obolon District Prosecutor's Office, notified the suspects of their indictment for extortion as part of a group in a state of martial law. The article's sanctions provide for up to 12 years of imprisonment with asset confiscation.
