The Security Service of Ukraine successfully conducted an operation resulting in the arrest of two Russian agents involved in adjusting enemy fire on Ukrainian positions in the southeastern regions. These individuals had a common curator from the FSB but operated in different areas, specifically in Zaporizhia and Dnipropetrovsk.
Their main objective was to identify air defense positions and temporary locations of Ukrainian troops.
One of the detained was the head of security at a major university in Dnipro, recruited through relatives living in Russia.
To fulfill their tasks, he engaged a friend who managed the water supply in the town of Hulyaipole, located near the frontline.
The agents gathered information by driving around the area during air raid alerts, documenting the activities of Ukrainian air defense.
They also subtly inquired about the locations of Defense Forces bases from acquaintances and verified the obtained geolocations.
The SBU operatives detained both agents and seized evidence of their collaboration with the enemy’s special services.
Currently, the agents have been informed of their suspicion of treason, and they are being held in custody without bail. They face life imprisonment with asset confiscation.
The operation was conducted in conjunction with the Zaporizhia regional prosecutor's office.
