Thanks to the efforts of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) in collaboration with the Minister of Defense, a spy infiltration at a key defense plant in southern Ukraine has been thwarted.
A special operation in Mykolaiv led to the arrest of a female agent attempting to gather information about defense facility locations for the aggressor.
Investigations revealed that the woman had involved her partner – an employee of Ukraine's defense industry.
Initially, the enemy recruited her, knowing that her controlled firm cooperated with the defense plant in Mykolaiv. She was tasked with collecting information about military orders and their locations in the region.
To achieve this, she used her partner, who worked in the supply department of the defense plant.
The SBU uncovered the agent pair early in their collaboration with the enemy.
It was established that the man had provided the woman with details about the status of state orders and the locations of manufacturing workshops.
However, the agent was unable to report to the invaders as she was apprehended by the SBU at this stage.
During the search, her smartphone was confiscated, containing evidence of her contacts with her handler – Sergey Lebedev, who works for the FSB and military intelligence in Donetsk.

SBU investigators have charged the agents under two articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine:

•  Part 2 of Article 111 (high treason committed during a state of war);
•  Part 1 of Article 114-2 (unauthorized dissemination of information about the Armed Forces of Ukraine during a state of war).

The perpetrator is currently in custody. She faces a life sentence with asset confiscation. The issue of a preventive measure for her accomplice is still under consideration. The operation was carried out by SBU officers in Mykolaiv region under the procedural guidance of the specialized prosecutor's office.
