Investigators from the Kyiv police, in collaboration with SBU agents, have uncovered that an official from the Kyiv City Administration illegally traveled abroad twice during martial law.
According to the investigation, in 2023 the official attended a working conference in Barcelona, and in 2024 in Florence. The purported purpose of these trips was to hold bilateral meetings with leaders in digital transformation to strengthen international ties of the capital.
However, it turned out that the invitation letters from the organizers were forged, and based on these documents, the suspect crossed the state border illegally, spending over two weeks in Italy and Spain.
Law enforcement has charged the official under Articles 358 and 366 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, concerning forgery and submission of false information in official documents.
According to the sanctions of these articles, the maximum penalty includes up to three years of imprisonment with a prohibition on holding certain positions or engaging in specific activities for up to three years.
