The Kyiv police received a report of a robbery on Vasylkivska Street. A response team from the Holosiivskyi District Police and criminal investigators were dispatched.
Authorities determined that the victim was a 44-year-old military officer receiving treatment in the capital. She was in a café when an unknown man rushed to her table, snatched her bag containing money, a bank card, and documents, and fled. The victim provided a detailed description of the assailant, prompting police to initiate a search.
Within a few hours, officers identified the suspect, a 22-year-old local resident, who was subsequently apprehended. During the investigation, police recovered the bag with the victim's belongings, but the suspect had already spent the 3000 hryvnias.
Investigators, under the guidance of the Holosiivskyi District Prosecutor's Office, formally charged the suspect under Part 4 of Article 186 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine for robbery committed under martial law conditions. The penalty for the charged article includes up to ten years in prison. The court has placed the suspect in custody with an option for bail set at around 121,000 hryvnias during the investigation.
