The Security Service of Ukraine has uncovered and arrested a woman working for Russian military intelligence, aiding in planned sabotage operations in the Sumy area.
The former nurse was recruited through social media channels. Her primary task was to gather intelligence on the locations of checkpoints and other defense installations of Ukraine. Preliminary reports suggest this information was intended for use in attacks against Ukrainian positions.
The enemy sought to identify vulnerabilities in the defense to strike from the rear, advancing their forces.
The woman employed a hidden camera mounted on her bicycle to gather reconnaissance data, which she transmitted to her handlers via messenger. All her actions were documented by SBU counterintelligence, which took measures to protect Ukrainian forces in the area.
As a result of the special operation, she was detained while collecting information about a border bridge used for enemy movements.
The investigation has already charged her with treason, and she faces life imprisonment. The operation was carried out by SBU officers under the supervision of the prosecutor's office.
