On July 16, a tragic event occurred at one of the training grounds of the Ukrainian Armed Forces when a cadet, during live-fire exercises, fired shots towards instructor-teachers, resulting in the deaths of two servicemen.

This was confirmed by the press service of the Operational Command "North" on social media.

"We express our heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased. The command of the Ukrainian Armed Forces is taking all necessary measures to investigate the causes of this tragedy and to prevent similar incidents in the future," stated the Operational Command "North."

According to the press service, the National Police of Ukraine has opened a criminal case under Article 115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine ("Intentional Homicide"). The suspect has been detained and is in custody.

The Operational Command "North" assured that the military unit where the incident occurred is fully cooperating with the investigation by providing necessary information and support to law enforcement agencies. The Military Law Enforcement Service of Ukraine is also involved in ensuring a proper investigation of the incident.
