The Security Service of Ukraine has apprehended a Russian spy who was planning an attack on Ukrainian naval systems «Neptune».

Military counterintelligence, with the support of the Ukrainian Armed Forces leadership, uncovered another agent working for the enemy.

According to the investigation, the detainee was preparing an aerial assault on «Neptune» missile systems guarding the Black Sea coast.

It was revealed that a 33-year-old serviceman was recruited by Russian military intelligence.

His task was to provide geolocations of his unit for an impending enemy strike.

If the coordinates were received, the adversary planned to launch a combined attack using drones and missiles.

Before the assault, the handler was to alert the agent to retreat from the impact zone.

The SBU thwarted enemy plans by timely revealing the spy and documenting his activities.

The agent was apprehended while preparing a report for the occupiers.

During the investigation, it was discovered that he was also tasked with correcting enemy fire on training centers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

According to the investigation, he came under the aggressor's radar while posting pro-Russian comments in military chatbots.

During the search, a phone with evidence of his activities was seized.

The agent has been charged with treason under Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The perpetrator is in custody and faces life imprisonment.

The operation was conducted under the supervision of the Odessa Specialized Prosecutor's Office in the defense sector.
