The Security Service of Ukraine has successfully apprehended an agent of the Russian military intelligence who was coordinating missile strikes in the Kyiv region.
According to the investigation materials, the detainee was part of the «Senezh» special forces unit and was engaged in gathering intelligence on targets in the Ukrainian capital.
The investigation revealed that the agent was a 44-year-old resident of Kyiv who came under the radar of Russian intelligence during activity in a chat roulette where he expressed pro-Russian sentiments.
After recruitment, he began monitoring local businesses that he believed might be involved in the production of military equipment for the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
To gather data, he inquired about «necessary» information from acquaintances under the guise of casual conversations, and then visited addresses of potential targets for further reconnaissance.
Simultaneously, the traitor was spying on the movement routes and combat positions of mobile fire groups during air raids.

The Security Service documented every step of the agent from the beginning of his reconnaissance activities and took comprehensive measures to secure Ukrainian enterprises.
At the final stage of the operation, SBU officers detained the suspect at his residence. Two phones containing an agent's «report» with photos of Ukrainian objects linked to Google Maps were discovered.

The perpetrator is currently in custody without the right to bail. He faces life imprisonment with asset confiscation.
The comprehensive measures were conducted under the procedural guidance of the Office of the Prosecutor General.
