On the night of May 16, shots were heard in the central part of Kyiv. According to police, an officer fired at a vehicle being driven by a man who was wanted and attempted to run over the officer during a document check.

Details: Witnesses reported that the incident took place early in the morning at Independence Square.
"Ukrainian Truth" reached out to the police for a comment.
Direct quote from Kyiv Patrol Police: "During our patrol, we stopped an Audi vehicle, whose driver was moving around the city during curfew. After checking the driver’s documents, we learned that he was wanted under Article 210 of the Code of Administrative Offenses. We requested the individual to go to the RTC for further clarification of the circumstances."
Additional details: The police added that the man reacted aggressively and fled the scene, "running over the police officer."
"According to part 7 of Article 46 of the Law of Ukraine on the National Police, the officer fired a service weapon towards the vehicle, but the driver continued to flee," police reported.
The vehicle has since been found, and the fugitive has been apprehended.
"Investigators are working to clarify all circumstances. There are no injuries reported from the use of firearms. The patrol officer sought medical assistance," police concluded.
